ELATE news Sylvia was a great success for us. We were able to involve a number of new young people in our production. This generated a number of accomplishments for us. An adjudicators award for play choice and three nominations for actors awards; Shannon MacLean, Simon Gregory and Jennifer Ramsay. We are a especially proud of Jennifer being awarded best supporting actor. This is a first for ELATE.
We are now involved in some new projects for the upcoming year. Fran Jensen is directing “Half Life” by John Mighton . This will be produced September 26, 27 to coincide with the Deer Trail Studio Tour.
We are in the planning stages to have Walter Maskel come and do a workshop for us in October.
As well, we have two groups working on two one act plays which will be presented at a fundraiser during October. Murray Finn is directing “ A little Something for the Ducks” by Jean Lennox Toddie and Carol Willett is directing a new play titled “ A Little Chocolate” written by one of our new members Audrey Austin. Both plays will also be presented in Dinner Theatre format November 7, 8
We are very excited to be sponsoring a Children’s Drama Camp during July and August. A few college students, graduates of the ELSS Drama program, approached us to sponsor a program which they will lead. Their plan is to present a show in late August with students from grades 4 to 8.
Priscilla Hollick has gathered a small group of members together to try and carry on a program for children later in the year. They are presently planning their strategy and program.
Our new President, Luc Morrisette is planning to direct the QUONTA production.
